On December 4, 2015, Schinkel’s Legacy, located at 19 McGregor Place in Chatham, was recognized by the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce as Feature Industry of the Month. Schinkel’s Legacy has served their customers for over 22 years.  With 20 employees, they produce over 50 processed meat and deli products to the wholesale market.

Schinkel’s Legacy has expanded its workforce and building size over the years.  They began with a 5,000 square foot facility in 1993, and two expansions later have more than doubled their footprint to 12,000 square feet.

The fine quality of their meat products has been a trademark since they began operations, and as a result they have won numerous Platinum, Gold, and Silver awards over the years from the Ontario Finest Meat Competitions.  Schinkel’s Legacy was also honoured as the Industry of the Year in 2012 at the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.

Schinkel’s Legacy has had tremendous success due to the quality of their products and their belief in finding balance.  Balance between work and personal life, profits and giving back, growth and sustainability.

Schinkel’s Legacy has always been a strong community partner.  They make regular food donations to the Praise Fellowship soup kitchen, local food banks, Teen Challenge, and are gold partners with the Farm Credit Canada ‘Drive Away Hunger’ program.

Schinkel’s Legacy has a strong focus on local.  They buy, process, and sell local.  They are very aware of the importance of agriculture to our community, and they are committed to playing a strong role in supporting the economy of Chatham-Kent.

Schinkel’s Legacy always has their eye on the future.  They are presently working on achieving their federal designation for meat inspection which will create more business expansion opportunities.

The Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce along with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent would like to congratulate Schinkel’s Legacy as being recognized as Feature Industry of the Month.
